Mira Ray Priyanka Chopra and her almost fiancé John Arinzé Kene are deeply in love, trading flirtatious texts and sharing a warm moment in a busy café. Right after that tender exchange, John steps outside and is suddenly struck by a car, an accident witnessed by Mira that shatters their plans and alters the course of both their lives.

Two years pass. Mira lives with her parents outside the city while her sister Suzy Sofia Barclay calls often, urging her to return to the folds of family life. Suzy finally persuades her to move back in, welcoming Mira with open arms, even as the memory of John’s death lingers in the air.

Meanwhile, Rob Burns [Sam Heughan] is mired in misery, freshly dumped and scrolling through his ex’s updates on social media. He is pulled into work to craft a piece on Céline Dion Céline Dion and is warned that he must write with heart, or risk losing his job. With a new corporate phone at hand, Rob chats with his coworkers Lisa Scott Lydia West and Billy Brooks Russell Tovey, who push him to start dating again despite his growing cynicism about love.

Back with Mira, a box from John’s parents arrives, containing clothes and the engagement ring he never got to give her, a tangible reminder of a life that might have been. Mira, a children’s book author and illustrator, faces pressure from her publisher to deliver another upbeat title quickly, or face consequences that could jeopardize her career and an intern’s livelihood.

Rob begins to receive private, lovesick messages from a mystery woman on the new work phone. When a dating-app lead takes him to a bar, he hopes to meet her in person, only to be disappointed as she leaves with another man. Unbeknownst to him, Mira has just ejected a different date for crossing a line of unwanted advances.

During an interview with Céline, the singer’s performer’s insight challenges Rob’s cynicism toward love. She questions him with sharp, probing curiosity and presses him to open his heart, encouraging him to revisit the interview later once he’s worked through his emotional hurdles.

Deciding to track down his mystery texter, Rob deduces she will be at an opera at The Met and resolves to stay through all performances until he finds her. When he finally spots Mira Ray and introduces himself, they exchange personal numbers and begin to see how well their lives fit together.

The couple meets for cheeseburgers and gradually discovers more common ground, staying up all night talking. They cook a meal together at Mira’s place the following evening; she falls asleep, and Rob remains on the sofa. Mira’s mood shifts when she discovers Rob and Suzy getting along surprisingly well, triggering a moment of doubt and jealousy.

Rob’s visit to Céline’s rehearsal underscores the changes he’s undergone, and Mira senses his transformation as well. Mira reaches out again, they play basketball, and eventually share a night together at Rob’s apartment. In the morning, Mira uncovers Rob’s messages to John on his computer and feels betrayed, telling him to stay away for good.

Rob refuses to abandon his newfound optimism and instead writes about wine, music, and what Céline Dion’s artistry has awakened in him—how Mira has changed him and given him a second chance at love. He pleads for forgiveness and suggests they meet again at the place where the music first began to guide him. Although his boss initially chews him out for veering from his assignment, the professional still acknowledges the deeper impact of his work and hints at a potential podcast opportunity.

In the end, Rob finds Mira somewhere between The Met and Central Park, where a promise is made and a kiss is shared, sealing a fragile new beginning built on shared rhythms, renewed trust, and the memory of the love that sparked it all.
