In 1913, the inexperienced Richard Herncastle becomes part of his Uncle Nick’s magic troupe, discovering the spellbinding atmosphere of Britain’s music‑hall circuit. As they tour from city to city, he helps with conjuring and disappearing tricks and is drawn into romance, politics and daring adventures.
