Sir Reginald Ford, known as ‘Lazybones’ Ian Hunter, is an idle baronet who has never had to worry about money. His brother and sister arrange a meeting with Kitty McCarthy, Claire Luce, an American heiress, hoping she will marry him to secure a fortune for the family. The plan hinges on Reginald’s charm, which, for all his laziness, seems to be enough to catch Kitty’s eye and spark a cautious romance.
However, Kitty’s cousin Mike McCarthy returns with the bitter news that her fortune has vanished. He is also after the maps for Arabian oil fields hidden in the house, and they are guarded by two detectives, sparking a playful scramble as everyone pursues the plans.
