Lakshmi Shivaraj Kumar, a 14-year-old girl, is kidnapped from her village and dragged to Hyderabad by Chinna. He brings her to the home of his elder brother and boss, Reddy, where she initially tries to adapt as a domestic helper, lending a hand to the older maid Amma. But the arrangement turns horrifying when Reddy rapes her. The next day, Chinna takes Lakshmi to a brothel run by Jyothi, a figure who can feel both reassuring and oppressive to the girls. After her first night, Lakshmi makes a desperate bid to escape and runs to a nearby police station, only to find that her complaint hits a wall—the local police have been paid off by Reddy.
Thrown into this horrific, dehumanizing world, she clings to a stubborn resilience and the solidarity of the other girls. She forms a close bond with her roommate Suvarna, who helps her navigate the brutal realities of life in the brothel.
It gradually becomes clear that Jyothi works for Reddy to fund her daughter’s college education and to retire someday, highlighting the gray morality that sustains this system. Within the brothel, Lakshmi meets Uma, a kindhearted woman who periodically brings sanitary items, condoms, and sweets to the girls. While servicing a client at his home, Lakshmi makes another attempt to escape, but is caught and punished by Chinna. The injury leads to an infection, and Jyothi and Suvarna nurse her back to health, though she is soon forced to work again when a client demands a young girl. The client turns out to be an undercover agent Mohan who operates with Jyothi and Uma, and Reddy and Chinna are arrested. The girls are moved to a women’s shelter where Lakshmi recovers, but the case against Reddy stalls as witnesses remain unwilling to testify. The brothel reopens and one by one the women return, until Lakshmi is the last to linger at the shelter.
Against all odds, Lakshmi demonstrates remarkable courage where others falter. Her lawyer, retired after suffering a nervous breakdown, initially resists taking the case, doubting whether a single, young witness can withstand the pressure of challenging a powerful trafficking ring. Yet she stands firm, resisting violent threats, coercion, and bribes to testify in court. Her testimony unveils the chain of exploitation, revealing that her father sold her to a local politician, who then sold her to Reddy. In a wrenching sequence, Chinna brutalizes Jyothi as punishment for her betrayal and reveals to Jyothi’s daughter that she works there. That night, Jyothi castrates Chinna and slits her own wrists, both of them bleeding to death. The ensuing trial results in a landmark judgement that successfully puts the traffickers behind bars.
