Shiva and his accomplices loot ₹150 crore (US$18 million) from a rich businessman. Sathya, Shiva’s twin brother, works in the real-estate business. Sathya meets Subha, an upright woman, during an estate deal. Subha uses the meeting to blackmail Sathya into handing over ₹2 lakh (US$2,400), threatening to report the scam to the authorities because the land owner cheated the buyers. However, Subha orchestrates the situation such that Sathya would appear to hand over the money if she gets cheated, and Sathya ends up in a bind. Days pass by; Sathya returns the money to Subha and to the others involved, and in the process Subha and Sathya slowly fall for each other.
Meanwhile, the businessman hires ACP Kishore, a no-nonsense officer, to track down the robber. After a brief investigation, Kishore interrogates Sathya but is blocked by DCP Sarathkumar and learns that Sathya had lodged a complaint against his twin brother Shiva, who has been torturing him and is behind several robberies. Kishore suspects foul play and believes that Sathya and Shiva are the same person, a notion that is later confirmed.
Sathya and his accomplices pull off a second major robbery, this time worth ₹120 crore (US$14 million), by slipping into the police station as drain cleaners and digging a tunnel to a factory where the money is hidden. The two businessmen become partners and send their henchmen to interrogate Sathya, only to be decisively defeated by him.
Subha learns Sathya’s true identity and, overwhelmed by the danger and the moral cost, breaks up with him. Kishore attempts to expose Sathya with a written complaint from the land owner—who was the mastermind behind the earlier deception—but Sathya, masquerading as Shiva, uses the document to pressure him and keeps the money flowing.
Sathya then reveals his past and his yearning for money to Subha, who begins to understand his predicament, even if she disapproves of his methods. He admits that he has resolved, at least in part, to mend his ways for Subha, and the two reconcile.
As the plot thickens, the businessmen kidnap Sathya’s accomplices and their families and force Sathya to hand over the money. In response, Sathya disguises himself again as Shiva and reaches out to the men, arranging an elaborate trap. He saves the kidnapped families and pretends to burn the money, drawing Kishore to the scene and luring him into a risky confrontation.
In a planned sequence, Sathya fakes his own death, with Subha and Sarathkumar as witnesses, and then manipulates Kishore into publicly believing that Shiva is dead. The plan works, Kishore faces charges and is arrested. Ultimately, Sathya and Subha marry, but Sathya continues his masquerade as Shiva to siphon off unaccounted money from corrupt businessmen, operating in the shadows without telling Subha.
