On a journey to St. Petersburg, Lisa, a dedicated researcher at the Kunstkamera, crosses paths with Vika, a restaurant hostess from Yekaterinburg who is also bound for the city—but for very different reasons. On the train, their bags containing all their valuables and documents are stolen, leaving them stranded with dwindling options. With little else to rely on, Lisa invites Vika to stay at her house for a while, hoping to weather the setback together.

Through Vika’s presence, Lisa’s orderly life as a museum worker shifts from routine to a whirlwind of social occasions, where parties and distractions start to take over the rhythm of her days. The two women discover a growing bond, but that warmth soon brings unforeseen tensions. What begins as companionship slowly strains under the weight of conflicting desires, options, and past hurts, pushing their relationship from friendly closeness toward a deep-seated conflict.

In the juxtaposition of these two contrasting worlds, the two heroines occupy the center of the story: Lisa — an intellectual who wrestles with indecision and heightened sensitivity, still haunted by a lingering past relationship with her ex-husband — and Vika, a vivacious, accessible figure whose confidence can feel infectious yet carries an endearing naivety and kindness in certain moments of life.

As emotions, circumstances, and choices intertwine, the tension escalates to a dangerous point: Lisa comes perilously close to murder, while Vika ends up behind bars.
