Appu, Rudraksh Sudheesh, dreams of boarding an airplane, a wish that remains unfulfilled even after several close calls. When his father, who works in the Gulf, sends tickets, Appu is unable to go as he contracts chickenpox and must stay behind. The next opportunity arrives, but tragedy follows: news of his father’s death in a road accident reaches home just a day before the planned flight, intensifying the longing and giving the dream a new, urgent weight.

Kochavva, Kunchacko Boban, a village mentor who uses his free time to teach kids cycling and swimming, becomes a quiet beacon in Appu’s world. He invites the children to believe in possibility, often invoking a line from The Alchemist to spark their imaginations and to show that dreams can travel beyond the horizons of their village. For the frightened, water-averse Appu, Kochavva’s words plant a daring idea: If swimming enjoys international interest and if cities host clubs that sponsor promising swimmers to compete abroad, then perhaps the sport could serve as Appu’s ticket to the sky.

As Appu trains with earnest, almost ritual-like focus, Kochavva watches a transformation he does not fully understand. When he finally learns the reason behind the boy’s sudden change, guilt grips him, and he attempts to discourage the dream by suggesting that such clubs might be nothing more than a mirage.
