The film begins with a dramatic scene of a bank robbery in progress, capturing the tense moments as a gang of robbers execute their plan. During the chaos, Ashwin (played by Jiiva), a dedicated press photographer for Dina Anjal, skillfully records the incident. Despite a harrowing chase that results in him losing his camera to the robbers, Ashwin manages to recover the memory card, an act of bravery that earns him widespread praise on local TV channels and acclaim from colleagues and media friends alike.

As the story unfolds, Ashwin encounters Renuka (played by Karthika Nair), a woman who had previously caused him to fall and lose his camera during the chase. She reappears in his life, introducing a personal complication. Alongside them is Saro (played by Pia Bajpiee), a close friend and colleague of Ashwin who secretly harbors romantic feelings for him.

The narrative broadens into the political arena with two prominent figures: Chief Minister Yogeswaran (played by Prakash Raj), an authoritative leader seeking to strengthen his grip, and his opponent Alavandhan (played by [Kota Srinivasa Rao]). Both politicians are embroiled in internal power struggles and corruption scandals. Ashwin actively exposes their wrongdoings through his journalism, which leads to trouble as he and Renuka become targets of political retaliation.

Adding to the complexity is Vasanthan Perumal (played by Ajmal Ameer), a young man attempting to rally the common people for political change. Despite being rescued once by Ashwin from thugs, Vasanthan struggles to gain ground against the entrenched power of Yogeswaran and Alavandhan. Throughout this political tumult, Ashwin’s feelings for Renuka deepen, sparking a romantic subplot amid the chaos.

The film takes a dark turn when a devastating bomb explodes at Vasanthan’s rally, killing many including Saro. This tragic event significantly shifts public opinion, increasing support for Vasanthan’s political party and a new hope for change. Sensitively, Renuka uncovers a disturbing link: both Ashwin and Vasanthan have a shared history as college mates, and Ashwin admits to secretly aiding Vasanthan’s political ambitions.

As Vasanthan’s party wins the elections and Vasanthan becomes Chief Minister, Ashwin’s suspicions deepen. He begins investigating the suspicious death of Saro, uncovering footage that implicates a man who is connected to both the bank robbers and the killing. This leads him to a shocking discovery: the murderer is a leader of a Naxalite movement, who also orchestrated the bank heist. Tracking him down, Ashwin finds the terrorist hideout and an intense shootout ensues, with police commandos surrounding the militants.

In a harrowing confrontation at the hideout, Ashwin confronts the Naxalite leader—who reveals a grim truth: Vasanthan was behind the bomb blast himself. The motive was to manipulate public sentiment and gain political advantage by causing chaos, with the Naxals secretly aiding his plan. When Saro discovered the truth about the bomb, Vasanthan, fearing exposure, beat her and ultimately caused her death. The Naxal leader confesses that Vasanthan intended to leverage the terrorist attack for political gains.

Vasanthan attempts to eliminate Ashwin and the remaining terrorists, but Ashwin fights fiercely. During their final clash, both are injured, and Ashwin accidentally steps on a landmine. Vasanthan pleads with Ashwin to keep the truth hidden, stressing that the people’s faith in the youth might be shattered if the scandal comes out. In a brave act of self-sacrifice, Ashwin releases the landmine, which detonates, killing Vasanthan.

In the aftermath, Renuka witnesses the unfolding chaos via her 3G connection as an important conversation between Ashwin and the Naxal leader is recorded. With a heavy heart, Ashwin urges Renuka to delete the incriminating headline that could destroy lives. After much pleading, she complies, and they work together to frame a new report that states Vasanthan has died in the landmine explosion.

Finally, Ashwin and Renuka decide to come clean by revealing the entire truth to the newspaper editor and submitting their resignations. However, the editor refuses to accept their resignation, emphasizing their commitment to truthful journalism. The film concludes with Ashwin and Renuka continuing their work at the newspaper, while Vasanthan’s former allies, now ruling the state, uphold the false narrative and try to move forward amidst the shadows of deception.
