Krishnan Nair, a.k.a. Kichu, once shone as a child artist but struggles to break into the lead roles as an adult. He is constantly pigeonholed into minor parts and, to make matters worse, faces taunts from the townspeople about his skin color. The dream of superstardom feels distant, yet his stubborn hope keeps him moving forward.

Into this fragile dream steps Ann Maria, a newcomer to Kattappana, who quickly befriends him, believing that his supposed connections could open doors in the film industry. Ann Maria makes Kichu feel seen, and he misreads their friendship as romantic interest. The moment seems to hold real promise until the director, James Antony, recognizes his talent and believes Kichu could be the central figure in a major project. However, the producer is wary of entrusting the lead to a newcomer, and Kichu’s chance slips away, leaving him more vulnerable than before.

Returning home, Kichu faces another blow. Two girls he had sent to a nearby film location were mistreated, and one of them is his neighbor, Kani. The town crowd turns suspicious, accusing him of orchestrating the misfortunes, and his father, Surendran, drives him out of the house in a moment of heartbreak and anger. In the depths of despair, Kichu contemplates ending his life by leaping from a cliff.

At that cliff, fate intervenes. A car swerves to avoid him and the driver, Giridhar, a respected local businessman, rescues Kichu and offers a blunt, life-affirming message: suicide is not the answer, and life can still be steered toward the goals he cherishes. Not long after, another soul walks the same cliff—Geo—a man broken by love who tries to end his own life after his girlfriend Neethu left him for Amith. Seeing Kichu’s note and hearing his story, Geo opts to stay alive and seeks out Kichu to learn from him.

Inspired by these encounters, Kichu begins to transform the way he sees himself and his world. He starts to acknowledge Kani’s feelings, and he Rekindles a cautious friendship with Ann Maria even as he battles lingering insecurities. He takes steps to shed the walls built by years of rejection and prejudice, choosing to pursue his craft with renewed determination and honesty. The people around him—his family, his peers, and the two women who now stand as part of his evolving life—help him reframe what it means to be a “star,” showing that perseverance, resilience, and genuine connections can alter a man’s path.

The story moves toward a social gathering—the wedding of Amith and Neethu—where [Kichu] realizes that Amith and Ann are not lovers but close friends, a moment that deepens his understanding of love, fidelity, and friendship beyond romantic expectations. This realization helps him further shed the last remnants of insecurity that held him back.

A new opportunity finally comes—but in an unexpected way. He is asked to play a petty thief in a film, a role that would have once felt like a step backward. Yet the truth is different: the person chosen for that scene is someone else, and Kichu discovers that he is the true hero of the story, ready to claim the limelight not by a borrowed scene but through perseverance, skill, and a deeper sense of self-worth.

Throughout the journey, the film’s world is painted with warmth and humor, while never shying away from the hard realities of prejudice, rejection, and the hunger to prove one’s own value. The characters—led by the determined [Kichu] and the people who push, pull, and protect him—form a tapestry of small-town life where talent must fight for space, and where friendship, love, and courage can pivot an ordinary life into something genuinely remarkable.
