John Day, Naseeruddin Shah, is a bank manager at Royal Citizen Co‑operative Bank and lives with his wife Maria Day Shernaz Patel. The couple recently endured the loss of their only daughter Pearl, who died in a forest fire during a trip with her boyfriend Kanishk. Maria Day remains withdrawn and subdued, her grief casting a quiet shadow over their home.
One day, while John is away on office work, a courier-boy enters their house and takes Maria captive. He then calls John to inform him that his wife is a hostage and that a man will visit his bank to carry out a plan. In truth, this is a meticulously staged bank heist: the visitor knocks John unconscious, blows open the cash locker, and escapes. Meanwhile, the kidnapper assaults Maria, leaving her with serious brain damage and placing her in a hospital coma.
News of the incident spreads like wildfire across all TV channels. A hot‑tempered Police Officer, Gautam [Randeep Hooda], is stunned by the events and calls his girlfriend Tabassum to help recover a very important document stored in a bank locker. Inside the bank, with the police present, bank authorities begin distributing claims to customers, when Tabassum approaches and claims the documents, which turn out to be property papers known as the CASABLANCA ESTATES. This discovery shocks John Day, who begins to tail the duo and watch as they deposit the file in a government property office.
John bribes the office staff and procures the original Casablanca files, then launches his own investigation. He learns that Police Officer Gautam is also after the papers and intends to sell them to a Dubai‑based mafia group, driven by pressure from Khan Saab to turn over the originals. John vows to exact revenge on those who harmed his wife and proceeds to eliminate the informants and everyone involved, including the kidnapper and the bank robbers.
In a bold move, John abducts Tabassum and forces a confrontation with Gautam and Khan Saab. The truth unfolds: Casablanca Estates is nothing more than 8,000 acres of forest land illegally being acquired on paper by the Mafia Lord Khan Saab and Dubai‑based Al Hunain, with help from Gautam, who works for Khan. They had secured the land, registered it, and then set fire to the jungle to secure massive compensation. It is revealed that on that day Pearl was in the jungle and perished in the blaze, while her boyfriend managed to escape.
Gautam schemes to sell the papers for billions to the Dubai-based AG group and flee with his girlfriend. As Khan is about to shoot Gautam for his treachery, Tabassum intervenes and fires in defense. A tense shootout ensues: Tabassum is killed, Khan Saab and his associates are badly wounded, and Gautam is shot multiple times by John. John sacrifices everything to avenge his family, including the life of Khan Saab, and is left weeping at the graves of his daughter and wife.
