Siddharth, Aftab Shivdasani is a scientist working on human cloning at a research facility. Two years earlier, his friend and colleague Sanjay Sanjay Narvekar died during a failed experiment, a tragedy that gnaws at him even as he remains convinced of the project’s potential. At a tense presentation, his boss, Dr Krishnan Paresh Rawal, and police officer Rathore Rahul Dev urge him to reconsider, voicing fears about the risks. Siddharth’s girlfriend, Aditi Chopra Bipasha Basu, offers steady support, and her father, Tinnu Anand, agrees to fund the venture. Soon after, an anonymous call from the police hints at assisting him without revealing the caller’s identity, but Siddharth declines the help and presses on with his work.

With funding secured from the Chopra family, Siddharth takes a leave from his day job to establish a clandestine laboratory in an abandoned factory, turning a derelict space into the cradle of his experiments. Back home, his search for him triggers a tense chase as bikers close in, forcing him to slip away to the factory. The authorities begin monitoring Aditi to locate Siddharth, while he conducts initial cloning tests on rats, facing a series of frustrating failures that weigh on him emotionally. In the face of setbacks, he clings to the possibility that he might unlock a new frontier in science, even as the pressure mounts from those wary of the path he has chosen.

After a sequence of trials, Siddharth achieves a breakthrough: he successfully clones a rat, though the creature displays disturbing aggression. He attempts to reveal the discovery to Aditi by the lake, but the moment is interrupted by pursuing officers, and he plunges from a cliff to escape. The cliff’s edge and the dark water below mark a grim turning point, for his body is never found. Or so it seems. The film soon reveals that Siddharth did survive and has continued refining the cloning process, aiming to clone himself. A darkly altered version of Siddharth emerges—a clone who is more violent and physically different—yet the original believes he has failed. The clone begins to act independently, committing a brutal assault on a woman at a nightclub and then framing Siddharth for the crime. The arrest follows, and Siddharth’s attempts to prove his innocence crumble as the authorities refuse to acknowledge the possibility of a duplicate.

The clone works from the shadows, seducing his boss’s daughter, Suchitra Preeti Jhangiani, and slipping into the cloning research center to steal the vital documents. Posing as Siddharth, the clone murders Dr Krishnan to gain control of the project’s files. Suchitra later discovers she is pregnant with the clone’s child, a revelation that complicates loyalties and raises the stakes. Meanwhile, the clone confronts Siddharth in prison, declaring his intention to take over his life and his future.

Desperate to clear his name, Siddharth leads the police back to his lab, only to find the equipment missing and the evidence erased. He learns that Aditi has been secretly aiding the clone, monitoring the lab via CCTV, and attempting to steer him toward a plea of insanity for Dr Krishnan’s murder so that he can be institutionalized. Officer Rathore grows increasingly suspicious and joins forces with Siddharth, driven by the belief that the truth lies beyond the surface of the charges against him.

The story culminates in a forest confrontation where Aditi finally admits she blamed Siddharth for her brother Sanjay’s death and engineered a fake relationship to exact revenge. Siddharth maintains that Sanjay chose to enter the machine after he urged him not to, and that the decision was settled by a coin toss. As the truth begins to surface, the clone’s menace becomes undeniable, and Aditi’s act of protection comes at a tragic cost—she is fatally shot.

The clone ultimately escorts Siddharth to a warehouse filled with other duplicates, declaring his plan to unleash them on the world. Officer Rathore arrives, and the two of them destroy the facility and kill the clone in a final stand of resolve. In the epilogue, Siddharth and Suchitra stand on the threshold of parenthood, facing an uncertain future as they prepare for the birth of their child.
