The film centers around Nadia Lapshina, portrayed by Nadezhda Mikhalkova, who is set to marry her love, hockey player Sasha Gorin, played by Alexander Petrov, after a triumphant game. As their lives progress, Nadia becomes pregnant with their first child, a girl they plan to name after her. Unfortunately, tragedy strikes when Nadia goes into labor as Sasha leaves for another game, and she tragically dies during childbirth due to complications, leaving Sasha heartbroken and alone to raise their daughter.
Fast forward eight years, the story evolves as children’s coach Irina Shatalina, brought to life by Mariya Aronova, gains custody of little Nadia, which cuts Sasha off from his daughter completely. Struggling with immense sorrow and feelings of injustice, Sasha’s emotional turmoil leads him to contemplate fleeing with Nadia, desperate to keep her close. However, Shatalina’s timely intervention and Sasha’s heartbreaking decision to renounce his parental rights culminate in a temporary loss of custody that deepens his despair.
As the narrative unfolds, a significant turning point occurs when Shatalina begins to reflect on her decisions. In a touching moment, she and Sasha work together to locate Nadia, resulting in a heartfelt reunion on the ice. The film beautifully depicts Nadia practicing her routine, feeling the support of her mother’s spirit, which embodies her determination to shine. The concluding scene captures a poignant moment of joy shared between Nadia, Sasha, Shatalina, and a social worker, all basking in the triumph of family and togetherness on the hockey rink, symbolizing newly forged bonds and the healing power of love and support amidst adversity.
