What Is I Was in Lisbon and Remembered You About?
The premise of I Was in Lisbon and Remembered You without spoilers.
The film explores the reasons behind Brazilian emigration to Portugal, blending documentary elements with a fictional narrative. Inspired by Luiz Ruffato’s book, the director chose to work with both amateur and professional actors in Lisbon and Brazil, incorporating their personal stories and experiences into the film. The director adopted a unique approach, drawing inspiration from the book's "false documentary" style, utilizing a narration where the main character speaks directly to the camera. It’s a story about dreams, disappointments, and the challenges faced by those seeking a new life.
