I Am the Ripper 2004

During a crowded apartment party, the sultry goth-punk Raphaëlle is pawed by a male guest; she quickly retaliates, kicking him in the eye. The guest slinks away to the bathroom to check his injury, only to be attacked and killed by a mysterious Death-like figure cloaked in shadow and wearing a skull mask. The body is found by a girl, and the killer promptly decapitates her, tossing the severed head into the middle of the living room to plunge the party into chaos. The cloaked killer pushes his way through the revelers, slaughtering as he goes—heads are skewered, bodies fall, and the crowd either flees in terror or succumbs to the onslaught.

Raphaëlle remains in the room and boldly challenges the killer to a fight, even as panic radiates around her. Meanwhile, the remaining survivors scatter, each option for help leading them back to the same apartment, time and again. When they regroup, they uncover the horrifying truth: Raphaëlle has been possessed and transformed into a hellish she-demon, her presence a stark contrast to the once-festive atmosphere.

The slaughter continues as the killer hunts down any remaining survivors. Some manage to seize one of the killer’s guns, but their shots prove futile against a foe who moves with supernatural precision. Among the survivors, Peter becomes fixated on finding Raphaëlle, only to confront the terrifying reality that the killer is Death himself. He wrests control of a gun during a tense standoff, and another explosive gunfight erupts. When the ammunition runs dry, Death overpowers Peter and grants him a glimpse of Hell, a moment that leaves him shaken but not defeated.

Death spares Peter for the moment, recognizing that he fought the longest. Then Death makes Peter an offer: a final, decisive fight where the winner claims Peter’s soul. The challenge looms large, and Death assigns a grim deadline and rules, warning Peter against cheating in any way. In a desperate bid for agency, Peter pulls a pistol to his own head, seeking a way to reclaim control of his fate. What follows is a surreal revelation: his dead friends appear beside him, guiding him toward a nightclub where the afterlife’s rules are laid out.

Inside the club, an employer presents a chilling “entrance exam.” The candidate must take the life of someone he loved while he was alive—a stark test of motive, loyalty, and resolve. Peter instantly identifies his target, and his fallen friends shadow him to ensure the contract’s execution goes as planned. They are joined by another party friend who reveals a surprising role: he is an angel, sent down as an arbiter to oversee the events that unfold when Death walks among the living.

The story unfolds with a blend of horror and moral ambiguity, moving between claustrophobic terror in the apartment and the otherworldly implications of the afterlife.
