After the mysterious disappearance of her maid, butler, and gardener, Mrs. Sandra Williams Dimple Kapadia, wife of Major Frank John Williams Amitabh Bachchan and mother to Sara Hansika Motwani and David, writes to a local employment agency to secure replacements. In response, Martha Pinto Moushumi Chatterjee, Edgar Abhijit Lahiri, and Maria Seema Rahmani—the latter identified as a mute woman—arrive at the grand house. Sandra hires them and lays out strict rules tied to the children’s health: the two kids’ eyes are sensitive to sunlight, so curtains must stay drawn at all times; loud noises give the mother migraines, so quiet is essential; there is no electricity, and all work must be done during the daytime in a candle-lit home.
