Hell’s Horizon Plot Summary

What happens in Hell’s Horizon from start to finish, spoilers included, with a timeline of 12 key events. The opening is below; the full summary is a 2-minute read.

Spoilers ahead

During the Korean War, Captain John Merrill [John Ireland] commands a Boeing B-29 Superfortress from a base in Okinawa, assigned to strike a strategic bridge over the Yalu River in Korea. The mission keeps getting postponed by worsening weather, a delay that ramps up tension among the crew and feeds a growing boredom and restlessness. The crew’s dynamics become strained as they clash over the presence of Sammi [Marla English], the laundress from the base, stirring up personal friction that forces the co-pilot Paul Jenkins [Bill Williams] to step in and keep the flight on track. The situation on the ground mirrors the storm brewing above: nerves are frayed, jokes are traded, and the sense of danger behind every decision thickens the air.
