John Mason returns to the Sally Ann mine to claim his half‑share of a lost gold vein. He finds Janet Cater there, whose father lost his portion to outlaw Joe Ryan and his gang, who are also after the treasure. A mysterious phantom haunts the tunnels. Mason plans to expose Ryan and force him to give his claim to Janet, but the phantom’s distraction allows the gang to capture John.
