Laxman is a brilliant student whose studies drift away under the influence of a mischievous circle of friends—Gopal, Madhav, and Lucky—a quartet that shares a room even though they were rusticated from college for more than ten years. In their tight-knit dynamic, Gopal is the muscle, Madhav the brain, and Lucky the steady right hand who never speaks. The foursome lives under the shadow of a constant debt to a roguish garage owner, Vasuli Bhai, who keeps a watchful eye on them as they use Laxman’s dormitory as their base of operation for a string of small-time schemes. Their risky lifestyle finally lands them in deeper trouble when peer pressure pushes them into a string of scams with real consequences, and they are expelled from college as a result.

One night, while retreating to the woods after a temporary halt in their misadventures, each member of the group opens up and reveals the stories behind their choices and the scars they carry.

  • Laxman’s mother once worked as a maid for a government officer, a detail that hints at his complicated family history and the pressures of ambition.
  • Madhav endured a rough childhood, shaped by the constant fights between his parents, an upbringing that forged his pragmatic, calculating mind.
  • Lucky’s life was hit hard by abandonment; his father left him and his mother, and Lucky’s mutism made him an outsider who had to navigate ridicule from his step-siblings.
  • Gopal discloses that he is an orphan raised in the Jamnadas Orphanage, a background that colors his loyalty, protectiveness, and willingness to bend rules for his friends.

Meanwhile, Vasuli Bhai and his gang close in, forcing the group to seek shelter in a bungalow occupied by a blind couple, Somnath and Mangala. The old couple—who are awaiting the return of their grandson Sameer to inherit a family treasure hidden within their home—set the stage for a tense, funny, and sometimes poignant confrontation. The group’s ruse hinges on Gopal stepping in as Sameer, returning from America, while the others slip in covertly to help. What follows is a cat-and-mouse game where Laxman’s body and Gopal’s voice work in tandem to pass as the same person, triggering a string of misadventures whenever the blind couple crosses their path.

The arrival of Nirali, the lively girl-next-door played by Nirali, injects romance and competition into the dynamic. The four friends suddenly have a new motive and the resources to pursue her, though their efforts to win her affection do not go as planned. As if their internal hijinks weren’t enough, a gangster named Babli joins the fray, pressing to steal the treasure-laden chest hidden in the couple’s home. An assassin named Pandu, previously sent by Babli and formerly the blind couple’s servant, later defects to Gopal’s side after learning the truth about Sameer, and helps the group fend off Babli’s gang.

The atmosphere thickens as the hidden chest is discovered behind an old painting. It contains a compass box, a toy gun, a toy car, and an urn of ashes—the ashes that Somnath had kept in the chest. Somnath finally reveals the truth: Sameer and his parents were killed in a car crash on their journey to India. Somnath’s son had learned that Somnath and Mangala were blinded in an accident, so he and Mangala traveled to America and lit the pyres of their son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, keeping their ashes in the urn. The couple had lived with this heavy lie for years, and Mangala’s heartbreak comes to light as she confronts her husband for his deception and for denying her the chance to cradle a grandchild or properly mourn. The foursome’s intrusion becomes a source of pain for her, even as Babli’s sudden appearance and the diamond hunt escalate the danger.

A climactic confrontation ensues when Pandu, convinced by Babli’s plan, switches sides to fight alongside the foursome against the gang. The chaos reaches a peak when Gopal is accidentally stabbed in the butt by Babli during a last desperate attack on the blind couple’s home. Babli collapses in shock at the sight of blood, and Gopal is rushed to hospital where the knife is removed and Babli is arrested. In the aftermath, the group is rewarded with ten percent of the diamonds’ original value for aiding in Babli’s capture, a prize that reflects a mixed sense of justice and reward for their earlier misdeeds.

In a closing turn of fortune, Nirali chooses Lucky as her husband-to-be, declaring that she wants a partner who truly listens to her—a pledge that reflects her faith in loyalty and companionship. The news leaves the remaining three friends—Laxman, Gopal, and Madhav—disappointed but wiser about the limits of their schemes and the value of genuine connection. The tale blends humor with heartfelt moments, exploring friendship, trust, and the ways in which small lies and big dreams intersect in a world where danger and comedy often collide.
