Jason “Jace” Newfield, [Andrew Lawrence], is the new blind student at his Salt Lake City high school after his family moves from New York City. He initially tries to fit in by playing the drums, putting on a show in class, only to realize that his flashy approach and his blindness don’t automatically earn him friends. His band teacher, Mr. Wyatt, [Wayne Brady], who is also blind, becomes part of his journey, and Jace begins to understand that true belonging comes from connection, empathy, and teamwork rather than bravado.

From his friend Vincent “Fly” Shu, [Khleo Thomas], Jace hears a blunt truth: the only real way to fit in is to be a jock. Meanwhile, his other friend Mary Beth Rice, [Alessandra Torresani], grows increasingly irritated by his “New Yorkers rule” jokes and tells him that the problem isn’t his blindness but his attitude. To help him change, she suggests he try out for the wrestling team, offering guidance and a chance to prove himself in a new arena.

Fly reluctantly signs up, and Jace follows suit, and both of them earn spots on the team. Jace struggles to win his early matches, but his skills begin to improve under Mary Beth’s patient coaching, with support from her father, Coach Rice, [D. B. Sweeney], who leads the team with a steady hand. The season becomes a test of perseverance, trust, and adaptation as Jace learns to leverage his strengths and the team learns to see beyond his disability.

As the weeks pass, Jace slowly earns the acceptance of classmates who first mocked him. He forms bonds with teammates who start to value his determination and character, not just his accessibility. The story builds toward the state championship, where a reporter interviews the team about Jace’s role and impact. In a powerful moment, his teammates deny that he is defined by his blindness, insisting that he is a significant, capable person who deserves respect and inclusion for who he is, not for what he cannot see.
