After being evicted from their old clubhouse, members of a Los Angeles drag racing club move into an old, deserted mansion and set up shop, turning it into their new headquarters. For the club’s grand opening, they throw a Halloween masked ball and invite everyone to come dressed as their favorite monster, turning the night into a playful blend of teenage energy, dance-floor excitement, and spooky fun.

The festivities take an unexpected turn when one of the youths spots an impostor among them: a real live monster lurking in the crowd. The creature is an AIP hallmark, using the oft-reused She-Creature costume, and it’s revealed to be in the lineup as a living participant rather than a true costume. The masquerade reaches a tipping point as this phony monster shoves its way into the best dances with the most popular girls, blending in with the teens until the suspense breaks.

The unmasking arrives at the end of the night when a teenager reveals the truth, exposing the imposter as the real-life effects maestro behind the look: [Paul Blaisdell]. The moment is charged with meta-textual color, as Blaisdell’s presence inside the monster suit blurs the lines between performer and prop, a campy twist that lingers long after the lights come up.
