Generation X 1996

Jubilation Lee Heather McComb is a rebellious teenager whose mutant fireworks power flares up at a local arcade, pulling her into serious trouble. She is rescued by Emma Frost Finola Hughes and Sean Cassidy Jeremy Ratchford, the headmasters of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, who offer her sanctuary and a chance to learn how to control her abilities. Together, they recruit Angelo Espinosa “Skin” Agustin Rodriguez and bring Jubilee and Skin to the school, where they are introduced to a circle of fellow students like Mondo Bumper Robinson, Mall Rat Tyler Labine, and Refrax. Within these walls, the young mutants are taught not only to master their powers but also to navigate a world that often fears and hates them. The instructors stress the importance of staying inside the safety of the school grounds to steer clear of confrontations with the nearby townies.

As Jubilee and Skin begin to find their footing, dreams intrude on their waking lives, haunted by Russel Tresh Matt Frewer, a brilliant but unhinged scientist who is obsessed with the power of dreams. Tresh once collaborated with Emma on a project to develop a dream machine designed to access a mysterious dream dimension, but his unethical methods led to his dismissal. Tresh believes he can harvest material from mutants’ brains to fuel his own psychic abilities, a plan that unsettles Frost and the others. Jubilee manages to resist him to some extent, but Skin is drawn in by Tresh’s charismatic promise of power and inadvertently becomes entangled in his schemes. Frost and Cassidy lie awake at the helm, guiding their new team as they confront a more dangerous, dream-touched version of Tresh to save Skin from his perilous grip.

What follows is a test of teamwork and courage as the students rally together, blending their fledgling powers to outsmart a threat that straddles both waking life and the dream world. The confrontation culminates in a daring chase through the dream dimension, leaving Tresh ultimately trapped where reality and dream blur. In the aftermath, the school stands as a shelter forged through trust, grit, and the resolve of young mutants learning to wield their gifts responsibly, with Jubilee and Skin finding not just safety, but a sense of belonging among their peers.
