Gargi 2022

Gargi Sai Pallavi is a schoolteacher from a struggling, close-knit family built around her father Brahmanandam, who works as a security guard in a city apartment building, her mother who crafts and sells homemade rice batter, and her younger sister Akshara who is still in middle school. When Brahmanandam, along with four other men, is accused of assaulting a child, Gargi becomes unyielding in her mission to prove his innocence. He is the man she has always seen as a hero, the person who protected her as a child from a predatory teacher and urged her to stand up to evil, and she believes in his goodness even as the community turns hostile.

As public opinion turns vicious, Gargi and her family are abandoned not only by strangers, but by a longtime family friend, Banu Prakash. In the midst of this social siege, a more cautious ally steps forward: his assistant, Indrans Kaliyaperumal, a lawyer with little to lose, agrees to take the case.
