
After being robbed and left alone, runaway Ben Young is rescued by Lil, who runs a Chicago brothel but pretends it’s a boardinghouse. She secures him a job at the city newspaper under Francis Sullivan. Exposed to the metropolis’s corruption, Ben becomes determined to reform Chicago politics, gaining allies along the way.
