Yoshito's childhood was marked by his mother Yasue's dedication to running a yakiniku restaurant inherited from his deceased father. The restaurant thrived, cherished for Yasue's cooking, until a scathing review from food critic Furuyama Tatsuya severely impacted their business. Struggling to recover, Yasue eventually closed the restaurant, leading to a rift with Yoshito. Eighteen years later, Yoshito works as a freelance writer and accepts a job with a new online food website, partnering with editor Takenaka Shizuka. Their first assignment unexpectedly involves yakiniku, coinciding with news of Yasue's collapse.

Yoshito NAOTO Sato grows up under the care of his mother Yasue, who runs the yakiniku restaurant Negishi-en with quiet devotion. For Yasue, keeping the family alive through home-cooked meals is a source of happiness, and for Yoshito those meals symbolize a time of simple, shared bliss.
The restaurant’s popularity wanes after an untrue article tarnishes its reputation, written by Satoru Matsuo Tatsuya Furuyama. Just as Negishi-en seems to be turning a corner, the young Yoshito resolves to do something that could lift his mother’s burden and give them more time together.
