Ellis (Onslow Stevens) runs Trans-Andean Air Service, a run-down outfit that shuttles supplies from Delgado, a tiny, remote outpost, over the treacherous Andes to distant mines. To save money, he relies on aging aircraft and a crew that nobody else will hire, often called the “black sheep” of the trade. He brings in George Wilson (Van Heflin) and is stunned when George arrives with his new wife, Lee (Whitney Bourne).
