On Christmas Eve, commercial artist Molly Gilmore and architectural engineer Frank Raftis are caught up in the frenzy of last-minute shopping in Manhattan. During this hectic day, Frank encounters his colleague Ed, who shares the troubling news of his impending divorce. Meanwhile, Molly runs into her friend Isabelle. Though Isabelle is married, she reveals her plans to spend the holiday with another man, and Molly takes a moment to visit her ill father.

The chaos continues when, in a bustling bookstore, Frank and Molly inadvertently mix up their packages. This mix-up leads to a surprising turn of events on Christmas Day when Molly’s husband, Brian, and Frank’s wife, Ann, each discover they have received the other’s intended gift.
