As Danielle and her nephew Luke step into the beauty parlor, it becomes clear how frail the elderly woman has grown. Seeking a rejuvenating hair treatment, Danielle’s health takes a turn for the worse, highlighting the severe condition of her lungs. Observing her distress, Kassia Lancaster, the beautician, promptly alerts Wylie, Danielle’s other nephew, who is currently distracted by a romantic pursuit. Realizing the urgency, Kassia urges Wylie to hurry, expressing her grave concerns about Danielle’s condition and impending mortality. This conversation sparks a questionable thought in Wylie’s mind, which he later reveals to Luke: the idea that hastening Aunt Danny’s death by cutting off her nighttime oxygen supply could be seen as a merciful act.
