What Is EXPRMNTL About?
The premise of EXPRMNTL without spoilers.
In 1949, the coastal town of Knokke, Belgium, hosted the second ‘World Festival of Film and the Arts’ to rival Venice and Cannes. As part of the festivities, and to mark cinema’s 50th anniversary, a unique side program was created, showcasing experimental and avant-garde films. This included surrealist, absolute, dadaist, and abstract works. The program quickly gained its own identity, becoming a celebrated gathering known as ‘EXPRMNTL’, dedicated to the innovative world of experimental cinema.
