Exorcismo: The Transgressive Legacy of Clasificada ‘S’ (2024): Cast & Ratings

Following Franco’s death in 1975, Spain experienced a period of cinematic liberation. Censorship was initially relaxed and then fully abolished in 1977, leading to the introduction of the “S” classification. This designation aimed to shield audiences from films considered excessively violent, sexual, or politically charged, encompassing a diverse range of unconventional works. Active from 1978 to 1983, the “S” rating proved to be a significant commercial draw for a society emerging from decades of national-Catholic dictatorship and repression.
