In 1985, in rural Thanjavur, Sivagami’s husband prays to a local deity as she faces childbirth. The newborn is named Kunjithapadham Sivakarthikeyan in keeping with the vow, and as a boy he endures taunts for his unusual name—peers call him Kunju or Kunji. He contemplates changing it, but his mother falls gravely ill, and he prays to God that he will never change his name. She recovers, and the family moves to Chennai, hoping for a fresh start. Surekha Vani brings a quiet gravity to the memory of his mother as the family settles into a new life.

Years later, Sivagami dies, leaving a void in the household. His friend Peter Sathish urges him to seek a new beginning, even suggesting a name change to mark the change in fortune. After meeting an astrologer, Gunashekar Raja Manobala, he legally adopts the name “Harish” and shifts his residence and job. From that moment, luck seems to tilt in his favor. He falls in love with Geetha Priya Anand, a schoolteacher who wins his heart with warmth and steadiness. He lands a job and enjoys smoother days, but a twist arrives when a lottery prize is registered under his old name, Kunjithapadham. He still manages to claim the TV with Peter’s help, yet Geetha’s eyes open to his concealed past, and she makes it clear that integrity matters if their relationship is to last.

To prove himself, Harish bets his future on the Chennai Marathon. A trainer named JP, known as Coach Jayaprakash, guides him to reconnect with a former student, Valli Nandita Swetha, who had quit athletics after a cruel setback. Valli’s backstory reveals she was a naturally gifted athlete whose promise was derailed when a corrupt coach, Raja Singh Ravi Prakash, accused her of failing a gender verification and derailed her career. The punishment weighed heavily on her, and her father’s heart gave way to grief. JP’s mentorship, paired with Valli’s resilience, rekindles Harish’s determination to run not just for himself but for those who were wronged.

Moved by Valli’s struggle and spurred by Geetha’s encouragement, Harish trains with renewed purpose and eventually wins the marathon. He uses the moment to publicly affirm Valli’s innocence, contributing to Raja Singh’s arrest and restoring Valli’s standing in the sport. Returning to his original name, Harish establishes a training academy to guide others, carrying forward the lessons of perseverance and honesty. In a hopeful turn, Dinakaran [Dinesh Ravi]—acting on Harish’s advice—proposes to Valli, and she accepts, sealing a future shaped by courage, truth, and teamwork.
