Kavya Ganeshan, a dentist, and Aniruddh “Ani” Banerjee, an industrialist, have been married for twelve years. What began as a heartfelt love match has cooled into a quiet, uneasy routine, and both quietly entertain mistresses—Kavya with Vikram, a successful photographer who moved from New York to Mumbai for her, and Aniruddh with Nora, a struggling theatre artist. Despite the emotional distance, they still share a home, unable to admit that separation might be healthier than the stifling sameness that has settled in.

When Kavya’s grandfather passes away, the couple travels to Ooty for the funeral. The emotional turmoil intensifies as a broker’s call reveals an apartment booking made in Kavya’s name along with Vikram’s, and Aniruddh, posing as Vikram, approves the booking—an undeniable signal that Kavya’s affair is more than a rumor. Nora steps into the picture again, visiting Kavya to confront her about Aniruddh, widening the gulf between the couple and their lovers.
