In the sun-drenched, crowded lanes of Bombay’s slums, Mithun Chakraborty plays Anil, a gifted street performer and wedding singer whose childhood memory is haunted by the brutal beating of his mother by P.N. Oberoi. When a weary manager, Om Puri as David Brown, spots Anil dancing in the street, he renames him “Jimmy” and thrusts him into the glare of the disco scene, aiming to dethrone the reigning Indian disco champion, Karan Razdan as Sam Oberoi, and to win the heart of Rita Oberoi, portrayed by Kim.

Jimmy’s ascent is shadowed by a calculated act of vengeance from Oberoi. Om Shivpuri as P.N.
