Twenty-one-year-old Kizie Basu, Sanjana Sanghi, is fighting thyroid cancer when she meets 23-year-old Immanuel “Manny” Rajkumar Jr., Sushant Singh Rajput, who has previously battled osteosarcoma and is in remission. Manny and his friend Jagdish “JP” Pandey, Sahil Vaid, are making a film together in which Manny plays the male lead, inspired by the larger-than-life presence of Rajinikanth. Manny invites Kizie to be the female lead, and a quiet connection begins to form as they spend time on set.

The two bond over their shared love of cinema and music. Manny’s admiration for Rajinikanth’s films meets Kizie’s passion for Hindi songs, including an unfinished piece by retired songwriter Abhimanyu Veer, Saif Ali Khan. As they shoot scenes for Manny and JP’s movie, the pair’s feelings deepen, and they start to believe that a simple, secret word might keep them hopeful: a Tamil term for “Okay” they call “Seri.” The word becomes a small, private philosophy that helps them face the fragility of life together.

A turning point arrives when JP undergoes an operation and loses sight in his second eye, leaving him blind in one more eye and testing the trio’s resolve. Manny then reveals that he has tracked down Abhimanyu Veer and managed to reach out to him, bringing a new, uncertain layer to their quest for answers and closure. Kizie emails the songwriter, who replies that he’ll answer all her questions if she can visit him in Paris, where he lives. The invitation sparks a plan to travel, but it requires the blessing of Kizie’s parents, who eventually agree on the condition that Kizie’s mother accompanies them. Just as they begin to arrange the trip, Kizie’s cancer worsens and she is hospitalized.

After a period of recovery, Kizie returns home weakened and initially distances herself from Manny, though their bond rekindles as they prepare for the Paris trip. They eventually travel to meet Abhimanyu Veer in Paris, only to find that he offers no definitive answers or the inspiration Kizie hoped for, leaving her disappointed. Amid the disappointment, Manny shares more worrying news: his own cancer has returned and he is now living with a terminal prognosis.

With time growing shorter, Manny persuades Kizie and JP to finish the film they started together. He even invites them to a mock funeral he stages as a way to confront fear and celebrate life. Eulogies are delivered by both Kizie and JP, and Manny passes away a few days later. He leaves a letter for Kizie, explaining that he had finished Abhimanyu’s song for her and had convinced the songwriter to help with the music, despite once thinking him difficult.

JP’s completed film premieres in an open-air theater to an emotional but joyful reception from friends and family, a testament to their resilience and camaraderie. In the final scene, Manny breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to Kizie, urging her to live life to the fullest. Her quiet, hopeful reply is a single word: > Seri.

The film closes with a tribute to Sushant Singh Rajput, honoring the actor who brought Manny to life and left a lasting imprint on the story they shared.
