What Is Dekha About?
The premise of Dekha without spoilers.
A blind, aged Bengali poet, Shashibhushan, spends his days in a crumbling aristocratic mansion in central Calcutta, listening to songs, crows, traffic and the click of an electronic lighter. Those sounds awaken memories of the vibrant post‑independence literary scene he once belonged to. He shares the house with Sarama, his former teacher’s daughter, and her young son Shumon. On a country vacation a blind, gifted singer named Gangan arrives, beginning a secret affair with Sarama that mirrors Shashibhushan’s own lost marriage, which ended because of his uncontrollable sexual appetite.
