This documentary recounts the bizarre true story of a Jordanian businessman and an Irish actress who attempted to defraud the British tax authorities out of £2.5 million by fabricating a £20 million film production. After being exposed, arrested, and released on bail, they decided to create a real, low-budget film as an alibi. They enlisted a former nightclub bouncer turned micro-budget director, Paul Knight, to make "A Landscape of Lies" for less than £100,000, featuring actors from soap operas and gangster films. However, their cinematic defense ultimately failed, leading to convictions for tax fraud and lengthy prison sentences.
