In 2002, a young American couple, Naomi and Matthew, embark on a journey to the arctic mountains of Norway. Amidst a heavy snowstorm, they find themselves forced to pull over, only to wake up later trapped in their SUV, completely buried beneath thick layers of snow and ice. At this critical moment, it is revealed that Naomi is already eight months pregnant, adding an extra layer of urgency and desperation to their perilous situation.

As the temperature drops to dangerously low levels, the couple battles not only the harsh environment but also unforeseen challenges in their struggle for survival. With limited resources and a dwindling food supply, the atmosphere inside the vehicle becomes increasingly tense. Personal secrets and blame begin to surface, making it clear that survival depends on their ability to work together against the relentless forces of nature, the encroaching hypothermia, and disturbing hallucinations caused by their ordeal.

“It’s going to be okay,” Matt reassures Naomi during one of their darkest moments. However, the fight for survival takes a tragic turn when Naomi experiences a panic attack that triggers the onset of labor. In a heart-wrenching scene, Matt assists his wife in delivering their baby girl. They decide to name her Olivia, affectionately referred to as Liv. As the struggle for survival continues, Matt’s condition worsens due to hypothermia and frostbite while he desperately tries to dig through the window for help.

Naomi faces an additional challenge as she tries to calm her newborn daughter, and in a moment of sacrifice, Matt offers his coat to help keep the baby warm. Unfortunately, the following morning, Naomi awakens to the devastating reality that Matt has succumbed to hypothermia. Days later, Naomi is jolted awake by drops of water on her face, discovering that the ice around them has softened enough for her to make a desperate escape. She wraps baby Olivia securely and manages to break free from the confines of the vehicle.

After wandering for what feels like hours in the unforgiving wilderness, Naomi finally stumbles upon a remote hotel, signaling a return to civilization. The narrative takes a poignant turn as the credits roll, revealing that Naomi and Olivia were successfully recovered and taken to a local hospital, where they received treatment for various critical conditions like dehydration, hypothermia, frostbite, and severe malnourishment. Experts later attribute their miraculous survival to the “igloo effect,” which provided them with a certain degree of protection against the savage elements, retaining any warmth generated within the vehicle.
