Check out what happened in Bulletproof Monk!

In the mystical realm of Tibet during the pivotal year of 1943, a most extraordinary journey unfolds for one of its esteemed protagonists, a wise and pious Tibetan monk. This revered individual, whose identity remains shrouded in mystery, has fulfilled the ancient prophecies that foretold his heroics: he has valiantly battled formidable foes while a majestic flock of cranes soars above; risked everything for love amidst the opulent halls of the Jade Palace; saved siblings unknown to him from a family he never knew; and renounced his very name. As he receives this profound news, he is entrusted by his venerable master with the sacred duty of safeguarding the enigmatic Scroll, whose secrets hold the power to render its possessor invulnerable to harm and ageless until, at the ripe age of 60, it must be passed on to a worthy successor.

Tragedy strikes when the master falls victim to the brutal hands of German soldiers shortly after entrusting the Scroll. His devoted pupil, now known only by his monastic title, miraculously escapes the Nazi commander's expectations, only to vanish into the shadows.

Sixty long years elapse, and the world has changed beyond recognition. In a bustling metropolis, a cunning young pickpocket named Kar (Seann William Scott) plies his trade in a subway station, pilfering from unsuspecting commuters. His latest mark is a police officer, whom he flees after chaining him to a lamppost. As he disappears into the crowd, a cryptic message catches his attention: an ancient prophecy foretells the return of the Nameless Monk, whose quest for a worthy successor will shake the very foundations of reality.

Meanwhile, on the same subway platform, the Nameless Monk himself is intently studying the news of the day when he unwittingly collides with Kar. Their tumultuous encounter inadvertently saves a young girl from a calamitous fate as she stumbles onto the tracks mere moments before an oncoming train threatens to annihilate her. The Nameless Monk and Kar join forces to rescue the girl, leaving behind Kar's ill-gotten gains in their haste.

As they escape the chaos above, the Nameless Monk and Kar introduce themselves to each other, only for Kar to pilfer the sacred Scroll from his new acquaintance and make a hasty retreat. Thenceforth, wherever Kar roams, he is relentlessly pursued by the Nameless Monk, who suspects that this cunning thief might be the chosen one destined to inherit the powerful Scroll.

In the midst of this pursuit, Kar becomes embroiled in an underground conflict against the ruthless crime lord, Mister Funktastic (Marcus Jean Pirae), where he crosses paths with a captivating young woman named Jade. As they join forces against their common enemy, Kar finds himself irresistibly drawn to this enigmatic beauty, whose love and loyalty will soon become his greatest strengths.

As The Nameless Monk covertly observes Kar honing his kung-fu skills by studying Chinese martial arts films at home, a sense of foreshadowing settles over the scene. Meanwhile, Jade attends the opening of the Conscience of Humanity exhibit, where she reunites with Nina amidst a backdrop of human rights activism. Their conversation is abruptly cut short by the arrival of mercenaries hell-bent on capturing The Nameless Monk. As chaos erupts, Kar finds himself entangled in the fray and flees with his mysterious ally, dodging bullets and taking refuge beneath an unsuspecting Asian laundromat.

Within the walls of this unassuming establishment, a group of monks from The Nameless Monk's order offers sanctuary to their fleeing leader. It is here that he reveals to Kar the intricacies of advanced combat techniques, including the art of evading gunfire with precision and finesse. However, their respite is short-lived, as they are ambushed and the precious Scroll falls into the hands of Strucker, a ruthless crime lord with a sinister agenda.

As it transpires, Strucker's motivations stem from a personal vendetta against The Nameless Monk, who had thwarted his ambitions 60 years prior in Tibet. With the Scroll in hand, Strucker sets his sights on harnessing its power to achieve world domination. But his plans are foiled when he discovers that the true secret to unlocking the Scroll's potency lies not within its ancient text, but rather upon The Nameless Monk's very own torso.

As the stakes escalate, Kar and The Nameless Monk return home to find their friend Mr. Kojima brutally murdered by Nina, Strucker's granddaughter. With nowhere left to turn, they seek refuge in the Asian laundromat once more, only to be betrayed by a treacherous monk seeking to claim the Scroll's power for himself. The ensuing chaos sees all parties taken captive and subjected to brutal torture at the hands of Strucker.

In a desperate bid to turn the tables, Kar and Jade infiltrate Strucker's stronghold, where they are separated as their nemesis prepares to extract The Nameless Monk's secrets through cerebral scanning. In the ensuing battle, Jade faces off against Nina, emerging victorious and reuniting with Kar just in time to rescue The Nameless Monk from his captors.

As Strucker's rejuvenated vitality courses through his veins, thanks to the mystical powers of the ancient Scroll, he finds himself thwarted in his quest for complete understanding by the Nameless Monk's impenetrable mental fortress. Kar, ever vigilant, intervenes, sparking a fierce battle that spills onto the rooftop, where Strucker ultimately meets his match in the form of electrical cables. Yet, the power conferred upon him by the Scroll's text proves sufficient to preserve his mortal coil.

Meanwhile, Jade seizes the opportunity to liberate her fellow monks from their captivity, while the Nameless Monk, with a knowing glint in his eye, imparts only a fragment of the Scroll's secrets to Kar. The weight of protecting this sacred knowledge for 60 long years is then shouldered by the wise and battle-hardened warrior.

In a stunning turn of events, Strucker, driven by an insatiable hunger for dominance, makes a fatal mistake: he underestimates the mettle of his adversaries. As fate would have it, Kar and Jade, now bonded in their shared quest to safeguard the Scroll's mysteries, emerge victorious over their fallen foe.

The Nameless Monk, pleased with the outcome, reveals to his new companions that they have collectively navigated three prophecies: Kar's valiant struggle against formidable foes beneath the watchful gaze of circling cranes; Jade's unyielding determination in her battles against Kar, both amidst a backdrop of palace intrigue and amidst a sea of jade; and their shared experiences saving kindred spirits, with Kar shielding his mysterious benefactor and Jade protecting brothers unknown to her. With this understanding, the Nameless Monk bestows upon them the final test, following which he vanishes into the mists of time, his spirit buoyed by the knowledge that these two warriors have become inseparable.
