Braços Cruzados, Máquinas Paradas (1979): Cast

Set in São Paulo in May 1978, the film follows a heated contest among three slate lists vying to lead the city’s Metalworkers’ Union, the largest in Latin America with 300,000 members and overseen by a military‑appointed board since the 1964 coup. As the campaign unfolds, the first mass workers’ strikes that would reshape Brazil erupt, exposing the union’s authoritarian, fascist‑inspired structure.
