Boys Cry 2018

Mirko and Manolo have been friends since primary school, growing up in a Rome suburb where they attend hotel school and dream of finishing quickly to work as bartenders.

One night, while in a car, they strike a man and flee, weighed down by guilt. Yet, as they process the shock, they learn that the man they killed was a pentito from the Pantanos clan—an small-time criminal family in the area—revealed by Danilo, Manolo’s father. This revelation unwittingly opens a door: by keeping silent, the two earn entry into the clan, gaining the respect and money they never had.

Under the guidance of clan leader Angelo, the friends begin working as hitmen for the Pantanos, taking out debtors and moving deeper into a world where violence becomes routine and reflection fades. The lure of power and wealth tests their bond, and Mirko finds his ethics clashing with the lure of easy money.

As the grip of the clan tightens, Mirko wrestles with his conscience and the cost of their choices. He ends his relationship with his girlfriend Ambra and clashes with his mother Alessia, a strain that pulls at the remnants of his old life. Meanwhile, Angelo sends Manolo and Mirko on a brutal assignment: to kill an ex-boxer who has taken shelter near Rieti. Manolo completes the hit, but the act leaves him hollow and he takes his own life.

Shaken to the core, Mirko makes a drastic decision—to go to the police and confess. Yet fate intervenes before he can step into the station: a car speeds by and a gunfire rounds out his confession, ending his life in a flash.

The film weaves a stark portrait of how a single act of guilt can ripple into crime, loyalty, and fatal consequences, tracing the slow burn from youthful ambition to a crushing moral reckoning.
