What Is Bolshoi Ballet: Giselle About?
The premise of Bolshoi Ballet: Giselle without spoilers.
After Giselle learns her lover Albrecht is a noble engaged to a princess, the naive peasant collapses and dies. The Queen of the Wilis—spirits of betrayed maidens—condemns Albrecht to a fatal dance, but Giselle’s ghost joins him, saving his soul. Scored by Adolphe Adam with a libretto by Théophile Gautier and Jules‑Henri Vernoy de Saint‑Georges, the ballet blends pastoral romance, tragic destiny, supernatural redemption and love’s power.
