Just before wowing critics with Fanfan la Tulipe, director Christian‑Jaque made Barbe‑Bleue. Pierre Brasseur stars as the murderous Bluebeard about to wed for the eighth time. New wife Aline (Cécile Aubry) fears his claims of killed spouses, but when she opens the forbidden locked door an unexpected turn follows. The film uses the Gezacolor process.
