On August 6, 1956, the death of a grandmother from an affluent Cali family sets a quiet, tense mood for the reading of the will. Two young heirs stand at the center of the story: Andrés Alfonso, Cesar Ramirez and his half-sister Margareth, Adriana Herrán, who has just arrived from the United States. The family gathers at the grandmother’s house, each person carrying memories and secrets as the will unfolds. But before the ink on the document dries, a sudden crack in the city’s normalcy arrives: at dawn, a mysterious explosion shakes the area, prompting everyone to retreat to the countryside for safety and clarity.
The surviving relatives send Andrés and Margareth to a nearby farm, La Emma, to fetch supplies and to inform their great-uncle Enrique, Josué Ángel of the grandmother’s death and the new inheritance. Enrique is viewed by the clan as the “black sheep,” a rebellious voice within the family due to his Communistic beliefs, and his eccentric stance only adds to the tension surrounding the death and the future of the estate. The journey to the farm is quiet but charged, as the siblings navigate unfamiliar terrain, old resentments, and the weight of expectations that come with old money and old blood.
As they spend more time together away from the formalities of the reading, Andrés and Margareth slowly develop a powerful and dangerous attraction. What begins as a forbidden spark deepens into an incestuous bond that mirrors the patterns of their ancestors, a dangerous thread that hardware-like, now pulls them toward a fate neither could have predicted. Ghosts from the past begin to intrude, their presence insinuating itself into the teenagers’ minds and bodies, blurring the line between memory, curse, and reality. The house and the land around it seem to breathe with a history that won’t stay quiet, and the couple’s relationship becomes a doorway to something dark and prehistoric.
Driven by passion and fear, the lovers turn to acts of violence, spreading terror through the region as they slip further into danger. They become cannibalistic and vampiric, drawing on fierce, indigenous myths such as Madremonte to justify their growing thirst and their unsettling, otherworldly pull. The community’s fear thickens into a rumor that refuses to be contained, as the pair push beyond human limits and into a realm where myth and menace merge.
In a cruel twist of fate, the couple abducts a peasant family’s son, an act that marks a brutal turning point in the tale. The consequences are swift and unforgiving: the lovers are killed and buried, their arc seemingly finished as the family and local residents return to the quietness of everyday life. Yet the danger lingers, unspoken and unresolved, as the search for Andrés and Margareth continues in the shadows of a landscape that never fully recovers from the events that began with a will and a death.
A farmer eventually uncovers the hidden burial site, and what he discovers is enough to chill the spine: the two teenagers do not stay buried. Rising from the earth, they shatter the calm with a warning from the past, a reminder that some legacies refuse to die quietly and that the line between love, vengeance, and myth can blur in the most unexpected, enduring ways. The story ends on a note of unsettled dread, inviting viewers to ponder how tightly history can cling to a family—and how easily desire can awaken something ancient and irrepressible.
