What Is Blaník About?
The premise of Blaník without spoilers.
Cimrman attributes the enduring appeal of the Blanik legend in Bohemia to the country's precarious position in Europe. Echoing Palacký, he likens the nation to a grain between two millstones—German imperialism west and Russian expansion east. Pressed from both sides, the small people turn to supernatural or miraculous protection as their hope.
