Birago Diop, Storyteller (1981): Cast

Birago Diop is recognized as a pioneer of African literature. While many Antillean and African writers of the 1930s turned to poetry to explore identity, Diop chose tales and novels. He recalled his Saint‑Louis bourgeois background, schooling at Faidherbe—the first West African high school—and veterinary studies in France. His works are taught in Senegalese schools.
