Confused and scared by the word itself, Wheezer turns to his friends—Stymie, Dorothy, and Sherwood—to make sense of what a divorce might mean. Their guesses volley between mischievous curiosity and genuine concern, with some ideas bordering on the idea that a divorce could even be a kind of relief. The moment becomes more charged when Donald weighs in with the real definition, and the room erupts into tears as the reality of losing a father figure, or the fear of a stepfather who might treat him poorly, is laid bare. The kids grapple with frightening possibilities: a mother who remarries, a potential new family dynamic, and the unsettling notion that Wheezer could end up without the father he knows, or worse, that he could be sent away to an orphanage.

Haunted by these thoughts, Wheezer devises a drastic plan to pull his parents back together. In a tender finale, his parents reconcile with a kiss, promising never to fight again and reaffirming their love for Wheezer.
