In a quiet, workaday world, Joong-man toils at a thankless job while caring for his ailing mother, and a sudden windfall changes everything when he discovers a huge bag of money tucked away in a sauna locker. That unexpected cache becomes a beacon for greed and risk, pulling him toward choices he never imagined and tugging him deeper into a web of danger he can’t simply walk away from.

Across the border of his own desperation, Tae-young, a customs officer in debt to the criminal Mr. Park, hatches a scheme with one of Park’s henchmen. They set their sights on a slick scam aimed at a so‑called “sucker” trying to flee the country, turning a stale routine into a high‑stakes game where every move could flip the odds. The plan is crafted with precision and a chilling sense of inevitability, as if fate itself were stack­ing the deck against anyone hoping to win honestly.

Meanwhile, Mi-ran, an escort weighed down by an abusive husband, senses a possible route to a new life when a client proposes a deadly exchange: murder in return for a cut of his life-insurance policy. The lure of escape from fear and harm tempts her to gamble with someone else’s life, testing her limits and forcing her to weigh safety against a dangerous offer that promises change, if only for a moment.

As the stories unfold, all three protagonists collide with a cast of dangerous figures, each step drawing them further into a more treacherous food chain of crime, deceit, and peril. Their attempts to manipulate events for a bigger payout spiral into a deeper, more lethal game, where every ally could turn into an enemy, and every trustworthy plan might unravel in an instant.

The finale culminates in a brutal cascade of consequences: Joong-man loses his house in a fire set by Yeon-hee to cover up her murder of Park, a murder sequenced to erase the trail of a money grab. In turn, Yeon-hee herself is killed by Park’s lieutenant, a deadly tribute to avenge the boss. Yeon-hee drops the key to the locker that holds the money, but the true twist arrives when Joong-man’s wife, who works as a cleaning lady at the airport, finds that key and retrieves the bag. In that quiet, final act, the money returns to Joong-man, giving him a chance to restart his life and walk away from the ruin that greed caused, even as the memory of the peril lingers.

Throughout these escalating events, the film uses a measured, economical style to explore how ordinary people are drawn into extraordinary risk, how ambition can blur into desperation, and how a single fortune—whether found, stolen, or borrowed—can rewrite the rules of every life it touches.
