On the eve of Bastille Day in Paris, American drifter and pickpocket Michael Mason Richard Madden steals a woman’s handbag, not realizing it hides a deadly device. He pockets the cash and the woman’s phone, then discards the bag as a CCTV camera captures the moment. The device explodes, killing four people and setting off a cascade of investigations and accusations.

Soon after, Mason is intercepted by CIA agent Sean Briar Idris Elba, who is chastised for a recent lapse in judgment. Mason insists he isn’t a terrorist and explains that the bag’s only other contents belonged to a woman named Zoé. The bomb is revealed to have been orchestrated by a corrupt police faction within France’s RAPID unit, led by Rafi Bertrand [Thierry Godard], who plan a bold heist at the Bank of France. Zoé Naville Charlotte Le Bon was coerced into planting the device at the Nationalist Party offices as a diversion, but she balks at killing innocents and flees the setup. Her boyfriend Jean Arieh Worthalter, a conspirator, realizes the danger and helps her escape, knowing his cohort will come after her.

The pursuit tightens as the conspirators track Zoé’s phone to Briar and Mason. Briar fights to contain the situation, but the trio ends up on the run together after Briar barely survives a staged clash with the conspirators. Bertrand’s team then tries to manipulate public opinion by planting fake evidence at a mosque and stoking a nationwide backlash — a move designed to rally support for their broader plan and to distract authorities from their real target.

With Mason and Briar now on the same side, the three follow the trail to Zoé’s ally Paul and his motorcycle crew. The gang fires on their car to force a retreat, prompting a tense chase that ultimately lands them at Paul’s bar, where Mason creates a distraction and steals Paul’s identity card. This card becomes a key to locating Zoé and understanding where she’s hidden, eventually bringing them to Jean’s apartment, where they discover his body and a badge identifying him as a police officer.

Briar contacts Karen Dacre Kelly Reilly, who reaches out to their French contact, DGSI Director Victor Gamieux Ériq Ebouaney. The tension spikes when Gamieux, who is secretly at the heart of the conspiracy, kills Dacre to extract the information he needs and then dispatches a rescue squad to seize the trio. Mason, Briar, and Zoé begin to read the clues that point to Gamieux’s true role, and they push toward the Bank of France.

On arrival, Briar disguises himself as a RAPID officer to slip inside, while Zoé and Mason ignite a riot outside to draw attention away from the interior. The plan works long enough for Briar to reach the vault and confront Bertrand and his remaining ally. Bertrand escapes with a small USB drive containing evidence of the robbery, but Mason shatters the plan by slipping away with the drive. In a frantic turn, Bertrand seizes Zoé as a hostage, while Gamieux orders a police squad to shoot Bertrand, effectively ending his hold on the situation and letting Mason escape with the stolen data.

Zoé survives theordeal, and in a final twist of collaboration, Mason, Briar, and French authorities stage a careful federal offensive against Gamieux. In a brief, tense finale, Mason meets Gamieux under the pretense of swapping the flash drive for a passport and safe passage, a ruse that leads to Gamieux’s arrest and a sense that justice, however imperfect, has been pursued to its conclusion.
