The Prince of Humbug leads a lively musical tour of P.T. Barnum’s life, tracing his rise from a 1835 entrepreneur to the 1881 partnership with James A. Bailey that created The Greatest Show on Earth. Defending the “noble art of humbug,” Barnum seeks fortune, buys the oldest woman, Joyce Heath, for his sideshow, and builds a museum of curiosities, while his wife Charity urges him to settle down.
