Jai Varma, Sidharth Malhotra, a mathematics professor, and Diya Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, an artist, are childhood sweethearts living in Delhi. Diya longs for marriage, while Jai dedicates himself to a potential research fellowship at the University of Cambridge, a path that promises prestige but clashes with the expectations of family and tradition. Under mounting pressure, Jai reluctantly agrees to wed, yet his growing doubts about the institution of marriage and its rituals spar with Diya’s hopes, and she walks away in heartbreak.

That night, Jai drinks heavily and collapses, only to awaken elsewhere—Thailand—on his supposed honeymoon. He quickly realizes he has no memory of the past ten days, including the wedding itself. The next morning, his world tilts again: he finds himself in Cambridge in 2018, reunited with Diya, who is pregnant with their first child. As days unfold, Jai discovers an inexplicable power: he is traveling through pivotal moments in his own future, entirely against his will, with no control over when—or where—he lands.

Jai’s next leap lands him in 2034, where he stands as a successful professor on the day of his divorce from Diya. Devastated, he pleads for a chance to reset the course of his life. Suddenly, he wakes back up in 2023, seven years after marriage, trying to balance demanding work with Diya’s art world. He rushes home believing his absence has contributed to their growing distance, only to find the tensions still simmering as he attempts to repair what’s been broken.

Assuming the timeline can be corrected, Jai is jolted again, this time to 2047. In his sixties, he attends his mother’s funeral and learns that Diya has remarried an art gallery owner. The revelation hurts deeply as he discovers this new figure is deeply woven into his children’s lives and was close to his late mother, complicating the sense of family he once imagined. The encounter with the priest who solemnized his wedding offers a stark reminder about the fragile bonds of time and relationships, and he is granted one final chance.

He wakes once more in 2023, this time choosing to break free from a cycle of self-sabotage. He actively supports Diya, attends her art exhibition, and redirects his attention toward family and presence rather than ambition. The choice reshapes his outlook on what truly matters, even as the weight of past errors lingers.

Returning to the present—the morning after his initial quarrel—Jai experiences a moment of renewed clarity. He rushes to Diya, vocalizes his commitment, and embraces the life they had envisioned together. The film culminates in a joyous wedding celebration, with family and friends gathered around the couple, as they step forward into a future defined by chosen presence, connection, and shared dreams.
