Shanmugam is a dedicated veterinary doctor who builds a simple, steady life in the city with his wife, Valarmati, and their two children. The story reaches back to his school days, where a spark of love once lived between him and his classmate, Dhanalakshmi. Fate, however, pulls them onto divergent paths: Dhanalakshmi ends up marrying her brother-in-law, a twist that changes the course of both their lives. Years later, Shanmugam encounters Dhanalakshmi again, now a widow living on the city’s platforms with her young son, Balu. The reunion is heavy with history, and when Shanmugam struggles to help her get a job, he makes a practical choice and hires her as a servant-maid for his family.
